Get Started
Knitting classes begin in January at our Main Library!
Our teacher, Dianne Laughlin, will be teaching knitting every Tuesday at 2PM, starting January 10, 2012. Just like the crochet class, you supply the materials and the lessons are FREE! Dianne suggests you bring a skein of worsted yarn and size 7 or 8 needles to the first session. You can register in person, send an email to wilkinsburg@einetwork.net with your name & contact information , or call 412-244-2940. Don't delay - space is limited.
Although we are still awaiting the total amount donated to F.O.L.L.O.W., we want to say THANK YOU to everyone who donated through Pittsburghgives.org. F.O.L.L.O.W. or Friends Of the Living Library Of Wilkinsburg, encourages everyone to join the organization to support the library and its ongoing programs.
Kindle Books Available for Borrowing You may now borrow titles for reading on your Kindle e-reader. Watch this video for instructions.
CROCHET Classes are continuing for beginners or experienced crocheters who need a refresher class. Frankie Turner has classes on Mondays at 2PM in the Adult Dept. of the Wilkinsburg Public Library and Saturdays at 11AM at Eastridge Branch Library. Contact the library to sign up for these FREE classes and find out what materials students must bring to class.
2010 brings many budget cuts for Allegheny County public libraries and an ever-increasing demand for library services. Effective February 1, there will be some changes to how requests are fulfilled in an effort to manage costs and provide faster service. The system will give priority to requests that can be fulfilled at any pickup location by that local library rather than strictly using the date the request was placed. This is intended to reduce the amount of transportation time for material delivery to the requesting customer. We regret that this change will mean that you can no longer see your position in the request queue through My Account, but our goal is to continue to provide faster service within the current budget restrictions. COLOR COPIES @your library! Eastridge & our main library both have new copiers that will provide color and black & white copies. Documents from flash drives or another portable media can be printed as well. Ask a staff person how to print your important documents. Check out www.wilkinsburgpa.gov for Willkinsburg Borough Information. SEARCH THE INTERNET earn money for the library!
NEW EASTRIDGE BRANCH HOURS
Eastridge Branch will no longer be open Sundays. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but the decision was strictly financial. Please visit Eastridge Branch Tuesday through Saturday during regular business hours. Be sure to check out our new electronic sign. Events and announcements can be changed in minutes keeping our patrons up to date. Rep. Joseph Preston funded our grant request for the sign. THANK YOU, REP. PRESTON!
